Scarification and Aeration Treatments

Pixie's Gardening offers a scarification and aeration treatment to rejuvenate your lawn leading to healthy all over grass growth.

Over time dead grass (thatch) starts to appear on the surface of your lawn which needs to be removed, scarification takes the sublayer of dead grass out of your lawn using a scarifying machine.

 

Three passes are made with the scarifier, two in diagonal directions in the left and right direction and then one vertically.  Each pass is designed to take up more thatch, after the passings have been made the thatch is raked into big piles and bagged up and disposed of.

 

After scarifying your lawn it needs to be aerated which means inserting holes through the lawn with an aerator which are approximately an inch deep. the reason for doing this is to improve air circulation to the sub layer, three passes are made with an aerator two in diagonal directions in the left and right hand side then one vertically, each pass allows for  improved air circulation which allows more oxygen to get to the surface of the lawn.

 

Finally a generous layer of seed is applied with a seed spreader and a thin layer of top soil is applied, after generous watering sessions and natural sunlight you will see a massive improvement in the condition of your lawn, it will look healthier and more vitalized, ideally this process should be done twice a year, once during spring and once in autumn.
